Meg Max
makes
stories,
art &
community
Hi I’m Meg
I have worked in arts facilitation for over two decades. In 2021 I founded Writers in Bloom. The work I did through that incredible community of creatives, as well as my own experience with Art Therapy, led to an interest in exploring how art and writing can be used to help connect us to ourselves and one another.
I believe creativity is for everyone, and that everyone can, and should, make things.
I am a certified therapeutic arts practitioner, and have trained in the Amherst Writers and Artists Method. I spent 15 years in healthcare, supporting folks with serious illness and injuries. Alongside my professional life, I have lived experience of neurodivergence and chronic illness, which means I bring this unique perspective to everything I make.
I make stories. I make art. But my favourite thing to create is community.
Alongside creative writing workshops, Meg Max Makes offers creative care events, inviting folks to engage in exploring and expressing themselves through writing, craft and a variety of artistic mediums. I also offer individualized support for artists and organizations, bespoke arts based workplace wellness workshops, and welcome opportunities to collaborate with other creatives. I work both online and in person in and around Ottawa, Ontario.
